EASILY TRAIN YOUR DOGAre you at your wits end because your dog just won't listen? Don't worry, with my help you will have your pet whistling Dixie and jumping rope in no time.
I'll show you how to train your dog with ease. In fact, both you and your dog will look forward to the training sessions. Get ready to send your dog to the front of the class!
You simply will not believe how easy training a pet can be. Did I say EASY? Yes indeed!
TRAIN YOUR DOG IN MINUTES INSTEAD OF HOURSOver the years I have owned and trained dozens of Pitbulls. During this time I have discovered that there are two ways to go about training. One involves the techniques that you are probably using now (and doesn't work). A process that is tedious, takes weeks, even months of effort, and results in both you and your dog being completely frustrated. Now you will be happy to know that the second way involves about 10 or 15 minutes, and in about three sessions, your dog is graduating with honors! No kidding.
PITBULL TRAINING THAT IS FASTER AND EASIERMany people train their pet the same way they train their children, which consists of reward and punishment. They reason; that is the way dog training has been done since the dawn of time, and that if worked with Lassie, it will work on their dog too. But yet, if you are like most people today, where time is of the essence, a method of training that is faster, easier, and, more humane, has to appeal to you as it did me. Really, you will be amazed at how simple, easy and FUN training your pet will be.
PROFFESIONAL DOG TRAINING TIPS FROM MR PITBULLBasically, he was almost uncontrollable, and in serious need of training. All he wanted to do is sniff the ground in front of himself. The fact that I was on the other end of a leash with my feet dug firmly into the ground, had little effect in slowing his forward progress. So out came the pronged choke collar (I laugh when I see these on dogs now). The only thing that did was wear me out even more, as it barely slowed his pace.
WATCH A FEW TRAINING VIDEOSIt was then that I dug into my collection of training videos, and found the video I was looking for by Ed Frawley of Leerburg Kennels. The video is entitled Remote Collar Training for Pets (Lots of videos you can watch on Youtube) The video touts the advantages of training with an electronic collar / shock collar. The video in a very straight forward manner shows how to use a training collar / shock collar, and how very little stimulation is actually needed to get results.
I decided to follow the instructions to the letter, and that Bra'tac would be the ultimate training subject. After adjusting the shock collar to the proper fit, I went through a series of tests to determine the right amount of stimulation (and yes I tried it on myself). You want just enough that you can see it gets his attention when you press the button. If the pet yelps, it is way too much stimulation.
TRAIN EVEN THE MOST STUBBORN DOGOnce I established the proper setting, the rest was a piece of cake. In three sessions, of no more than 10 or 15 minutes, Bra'tac the Pitbull beast that couldn't be broken or trained, was responding to my training commands without hesitation. In fact, he could be in the yard with a female in full heat, and the minute I go to his kennel and call, he is there pronto.
And here is the best part:
Once the dog is trained, the shock collar is no longer needed.
GETTING STARTED WITH A SHOCK COLLAROn this page I tell of some training routines that you and your pet will have fun doing. These routines employ using a shock collar. I do not however on this page get into how to use the collar. You will find out how to use a shock collar on this page:
LEARN HOW TO USE A SHOCK COLLAR
BECOME A SUCCESSFUL PITBULL TRAINERWe acknowledge that not everyone is going to benefit from the information that we present in this article. Some people frankly do not believe in DISCIPLINE and therefore will never understand the thinking of a dog.
Dogs are not people. When people have a disagreement, they (in most cases) have an argument. When dogs have a disagreement, they fight. That is the way they settle things.
Dogs are PACK ANIMALS and they think differently then we do. To be successful we need to understand pack mentality, and apply that knowledge to our training techniques.
SOME PEOPLE ARE NOT CUT OUT TO BE A DOG TRAINERI read a review that someone gave concerning using a remote collar. They considered it to be barbaric. They had never tried it, didn't understand it, had never seen one used, but yet came to a conclusion that using one was tantamount to cruelty to animals. People that have that kind of thinking are seldom good pet trainers.
Of course, we are not saying that a dog cannot be trained without electronic stimulation; just that people with the thinking mentioned above, don't have what it takes to train dogs. They generally like to think their dogs are little Angels, when in fact, their pets are completely untrained. We've all seen those kind of dogs many times before.
STEP INTO THE 21 CENTURY OF DOG TRAININGAnd then Ziglar would continue:
"But what I can tell you is this; I can give these five ladies in the front row, parry knives and ten pounds of potatoes and I can give your wife the machine and ten pounds of potatoes, and your wife will have the job done before all five of them with the knives put together. Now is that because she is an expert? No, it is because she has the machine. And they have been using parry knives their whole lives".
Likewise, people may have trained dogs their whole life, the old fashion way, and they may believe their way is best. Let them keep doing that way. You however, step into the 21 century and see what a little technology can do in improving your skills as a dog trainer.
DO NOT BE STOPPED BY A PRECONCEIVED NOTION
INVEST IN A GOOD QUALITY REMOTE COLLARDogtra Collars are far and away the best shock collars for the money. On Amazon you can buy a collar for under $50; these collars are glorified toys, and will not hold up to the rigors of dog training. The Dogtra 1900S and Fieldmaster are professional grade units with 3/4 mile range.
READ THE REMOTE COLLAR REVIEWS ON AMAZONOne more word in regard the training collar:
Many people wrongly assume that the collar is cruel or inhumane; nothing could be further from the truth. If you think that a shock collar is barbaric, do yourself a favor and visit Cabelas.com or Amazon.com and read the user reviews. You will find THOUSANDS of reviews.
In almost every case, the reviewer says; "I hesitated from getting a shock collar, thinking it was cruel... HOW WRONG I WAS!"
A WORD OF CAUTION BEFORE BUYING A REMOTE TRAINING COLLAROver the past few years, remote training collars have become hugely popular. This of course has resulted in hundreds of cheaply made overseas collars hitting the market. I recently saw a cheaply made unit selling for around fifty dollars that had a 4.9 rating on Amazon with 70 reviews. This caught my attention. Upon close examination, I noted the unit had only been available for less than 2 weeks and that all the reviews were FAKE. Although the reviews on the surface looked legit, they were simply copied and pasted from real reviews. Don't be fooled, by a cheap price. This is a product that can't afford to be defective and cause injury to your beloved friend.
HAVE FUN TRAINING YOUR DOGSharing fun time with my pitbulls is something I look forward to everyday. Sadly I can't spend every second with them as I am confident they would like. Other duties and obligations stand in the way. Therefore making the most of the time we spend together is always my goal.
To accomplish this, I employ several routines during play time, which we (me and the dogs) both look forward to. I want to make sure that after the training and exercise session is over with, that they are fully tired and ready to retire to their kennel for much deserved rest. I also want to make sure that myself and the dog have a good time too.
THIS IS OUR FAVORITE EXERCISE AND TRAINING ROUTINEOne of the dogs' favorites exercise and training routine is the "flirt pole" exercise. If you are not familiar with a flirt pole, the best way I could describe it; it is a carriage whip. Amazon has a number of different choices and they are called "lunge whips". Here is a good FLIRT POLE that will work great. I picked mine up from Tractor Supply, but the price at Amazon is a lot less. Make sure you read the reviews to get an idea of how you might want to use it.
BOTH YOU AND YOUR DOG WILL HAVE FUNHold the pole upright and spin the whip over top your head (like a helicopter). You will not believe the fun you and the dogs will have as you endeavor to keep it the "flirt" just barely out of their reach as they endeavor to be the one that brings it down. Some of them never really seem to catch on, where as others, devise near flawless techniques. In the end, win or lose, all of them have a blast trying to catch it.
THIS WILL PUT EVEN THE BEST DOG TRAINER TO THE TESTNow once they catch it, your ability as a dog handler will be quickly put to the test. As you know, once a Pitbull has something between his teeth, they don't like to let go. Now try it with six or eight of them and see what happens. The one that brings it down has about a ½ of second to enjoy the victory before everyone else grabs hold.
Prying the flirt from their mouths after all the excitement and anticipation is next to impossible. Now if you have one dog you can wrestle it out of their mouth. Any more than that and you have your work cut out for you.
TRAIN EVEN THE MOST STUBBORN DOGSDo the same with each one of them, and after all have been trained, run each through the exercise one more time. Then bring them all out, and determine which dog or dogs under the added excitement of "peer pressure" forgot everything he or she had just learned.
Then retrain them in the presence of one or two dogs, that need no further training. Once they quickly responds to your commands, bring them all out again.
A LOT OF TRAINING COLLARS TO CHOOSE FROMLook for an established brand used by professional dog trainers. Such brands will include collars capable of stimulating up to a mile a way, which comes in handy in certain hunting scenarios. You may or may not need that. Therefore, one of their lower price models may be sufficient for your needs. Just make sure it is from a trusted manufacture.
FEATURES WORTH CONSIDERING WHEN PURCHASING A TRAINING COLLARYou will need to determine the features that are important for you and your dog. Some training collars can control as many as three or even four dogs. If you have only one dog, don't pay for something you don't need. If your dog is small, the top manufactures have units designed for dogs as small as ten pounds. If you have a dog that is stubborn, you may need a unit with a lot of power. If you have a dog that is aggressive toward other dogs; you will need the extra power. One thing that is not needed is 100 levels of stimulation. My favorite collar had just 7 levels, that was enough for any situation.
