IF YOUR DOG SUFFERS FROM DIARRHEA - TRY THIS SOLUTION!The last thing anyone wants to talk about is a Dog with Diarrhea. I'm going to assume you are here because your dog has diarrhea chronic in nature. Of course, most everyone can, both human and dog alike, suffer from occasional bouts of diarrhea.
This article is not going to address acute or occasional diarrhea; as it will pass in a day or two. This article is going to focus on chronic diarrhea causing frequent loose stools, that just doesn't seem to stop.
DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF YOUR DOG'S DIARRHEAThis article is going to assume you have had your dog examined, perhaps numerous times, but still your dog's diarrhea persist. You have already switched up his food source and have went to GRAIN-FREE DOG FOOD and have tried all the worthless and pointless bland diets (if your dog has chronic diarrhea, a bland diet will in most cases do nothing to stop a dog's diarrhea).
YOU'VE BEEN TO THE VET BUT YOUR DOG'S DIARRHEA PERSISTThere are many things that can bring on diarrhea that can become chronic. Knowing what caused your dog's digestive problems is helpful in treating it. Although frankly, with the solution that you will find here, the cause is not likely to matter. From my experience, what I relate will work in most cases.
COULD BE A FOOD ALLERGYIt is certainly not uncommon for digestive issues to be food related. If you think that is the case, see a Vet who specializes in allergies. They will test and determine substances that should be avoided. Commercial dog food is loaded with things that no dog should ever eat. If I suspected that the problem was food related, I would switch to an ALL RAW MEAT DIET. I feed my dogs such and it works wonders.
CHANCES ARE PROBLEM IS DUE TO A PARASITEYet in the majority of cases, the digestive problems are because of a parasite. Even after the parasites are killed off, the problems can still linger.
Some years ago, I had an outbreak of Giardia. GIARDIA is a protozoan parasite and is one of the most prevalent parasitic problems in the world. It infests just about every lake, river, and stream, and is one of the reasons that campers boil the water before drinking. In fact, it is estimated that 10% of the worlds human population is infected with it. For most, the body's natural defenses overcome it. For some, they suffer with reoccurring bouts of diarrhea and loose stools for life.
GIARDIA AND/OR THE LOSS OF STOMACH BACTERIA MAY BE AT FAULTDogs are very susceptible to Giardia and are much harder to rid of them than humans. Dogs will almost invariably need treatment to kill them.
Some dogs are cured with treatment, however, some dogs will continue to have re-occurring bouts and additional steps will be needed. I outline those steps below.
CHANCE ARE THE GOOD BACTERIA HAS BEEN WIPED OUTAfter a dog has went through an intensive series of treatments much of the beneficial bacteria in the gut that is needed for digestion will have been wiped out. With the good bacteria wiped out, bad bacteria spins out of control, causing a dog to have diarrhea and loose stools on a re-occurring basis. In many cases the key to curing a dog's diarrhea and loose stool problems is eliminating the bad bacteria while replacing it with good bacteria.
Read my pages on DEWORMING, HOOKWORMS, and GIARDA. Learn the life cycles so that you understand how to kill all the parasites.
COMPLETELY KILL OFF ALL PARASITES!
Assuming you have done all that and still your dog has issues, then the next step is what will make all the difference. Start feeding your dog DIATOMACEOUS EARTH.
STEP #2: DIATOMACEOUS EARTH!!!!DIATOMACEOUS EARTH is a Silica rock that is ground into a very fine powder. Under a microscope the particles resemble sharp shards of glass. What is amazing, is the fact that it is totally safe for humans and pets to eat. Many people, including myself, eat it in order to kill almost any internal parasite. Bad bacteria, viruses, molds, protozoans, Endotoxins, E-coil, and most worms, are no match for it and are killed off.
Small parasites including, but not limited to Giardia, that come in contact with it are killed by having all of their waxy outer-coating cut off. They then dehydrate and die.
Another amazing benefit of Diatomaceous Earth; when the intestines are not working properly, they become coated with mucus and even molds, which if not corrected, will result in poor health. Diatomaceous Earth when eaten for a few months, will scrub the intestines clean.

DIATOMACEOUS EARTH DOSAGEDIATOMACEOUS EARTH should be fed to your dog every day, for at least one month. If I thought that my dog had been infected with the protozoan Giardia, I would continue treatment for a number of months. In any event, for an average size dog, add ABOUT ONE TABLESPOON to their food, once a day. Because I feed a raw diet, I mix it into their dish with a number of ingredients, depending on the need of the dog. So, it is easy for me to stir it into the food. I would if feeding kibble, add a little yogurt or some Salmon oil or even some Green Tripe, and stir the DIATOMACEOUS EARTH into it.
TOUGH FOR VETS TO DIAGNOSEMany people have spent thousands of dollars at the Vets and have sadly not found relief for their pets. Figuring out why a dog is having stomach issues is not easy sometimes.
I have a kennel full of dogs and have had about every problem you can imagine. The treatment I outline here has worked for me and I believe it will help your dog too.
The next thing we want to do is to restore the gut's beneficial bacteria.
STEP #3: A GOOD PROBIOTICYou can kill off every parasite and scrub the intestines clean, but without restoring the good bacteria needed for digestion, your dog is going to continue to have trouble. DIATOMACEOUS EARTH will destroy most if not all the bad bacteria. Ridding your dog of bad bacteria is only half the process. Now you have to introduce beneficial bacteria. FortiFlora CANINE Nutritional Supplement by Purina FortiFlora is the product I recommend. In most cases you will note improvement in your dog's stools in about a week.
YOU'LL WANT TO GIVE YOUR DOG GOOD NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTSIn all cases, (whether cured or not) a dog suffering with diarrhea and loose stools will need extra care. You will want to read my page on the best supplements. Again, I have a kennel and only recommend what I use. VITAMINS AND SUPPLEMENTS
