UNITED KENNEL CLUB

This is Arcadia. She is registered with the United Kennel Club, although she is not allowed to compete there any longer because they say she is too wide. It wasn't long ago that the United Kennel Club changed their rules concerning PitBull Confirmation to deny this Purple Ribbon bred Pit. Prior to that, with the advent of the Bully movement among PitBull breeders, Pit like Arcadia was dominating the winner’s podium. Recently a number of PitBull breeders endeavoring to breed the dog away from its fighting linage in order to preserve the PitBull from unfair legislation, started producing wider, thicker and some say better PitBulls. Arcadia is a prime specimen of this new movement among breeders concerned with the annihilation of the breed. Since their objective was to breed the dog away from its fighting form, there was no longer any reason to limit the breed to its smaller, thinner frame, designed like a marathon runner, designed to do battle that could last an hour or more. With the breed no longer being dominated by the scum at whose hands the dogs were abused for nearly a century as pit fighters, this opened the door for reputable breeders to take the PitBull into a new direction. In no time at all, Pits like Arcadia became the favorites of the crowd and Judges. The fighting style (some refer to them as game dogs) Pits didn’t stand a chance in the ring with this new version, with their bigger heads and wider chests. Instead of seeing an opportunity to assign these new dogs their own class or distinction, the United Kennel Club simply changed the rules to deny the new dogs a chance to compete. For this reason and others, a new registry was formed that opened the way for PitBull lovers of all varieties a fair chance to show his or her dogs. 2009 saw over 100 such shows sponsored by the ABKC. These shows are amongst the best attended and most competitive dog shows in the world, as the American Bull as they are now referred to continue to take the dog world by storm.
